Alfred C. Hence, age 81, resident of Sandy Creek since 2000, formerly of Pulaski, passed away Monday at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. Alfred was born April 10, 1937 in Bombay, NY, the son of Alfred T. and Marion L. Spinner Hence. He attended the University of Michigan. Alfred served in the United States Army Special Forces from 1953 until 1990. Alfred was married to Ann Hence and she passed away in 1996. He then married Shirley Machemer on August 26, 2000. Alfred was employed by Carrier Corp for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a former member of the Pulaski Police Department. Alfred was a member of the 19th Special Forces Group Airborne Rangers and the Cable Trail VFW Post #8532 in Lacona. He also assisted in the startup of NOCA in 1974.
Surviving are wife Shirley, three daughters, Tracy (LeRoy) Cosilmon of Pulaski, Shelby Leatherwood of Baldwinsville and Kelly (Michael) Cash of Fayetteville, four grandchildren, Bethany Kimbro, Katherine Maruscsak, CJ Cosilmon, and Hannah Cash, step children, Fara Sedler and Richard T. Machemer both of Colorado, step grandchildren, Logan Jones and Danielle Sedler, three great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, March 22nd at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with a spring burial with military honors in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday prior to the funeral.
