Daniel A. Briggs, 92, passed away peacefully at the Francis House in Syracuse, NY on July 8, 2021. He was the husband of the predeceased Marie Hafner Briggs whom he married in 1953 in Troy, NY.
He is survived by his children Susan Briggs-Lopane (Nick), grandkids, Cassandra and Nicholas and a son Peter Briggs (Pam). He is survived by a sister Margaret Briggs Lonergan and nieces and a nephew.
Daniel was born August 10, 1928, in Kingston, NY to Marian Donnelly Briggs and Paul G. Briggs. Daniel attended schools in Kingston, NY and graduated in 1945 from CBA in Albany. Daniel graduated in 1950 from the New York State Teachers College in Albany where he saw his teaching career take him to Hammond, NY and then East Greenbush, NY. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1958 earning his PhD.
Daniel held university positions at Glassboro State College (Rowan) in New Jersey, Eastern Michigan University, Syracuse University, SUNY Albany, and Russell Sage College. Daniel held administrative positions in the Schenectady City School District and Oswego County BOCES. After he retired, he served three terms as the Mayor of Pulaski, NY. His passion was collecting old toys and electric trains. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Sandy Pond in Sandy Creek, NY. He will rest for eternity with his spouse on the waters of the pond.
