Obituary of Paul W. Whitcomb
Paul Whitcomb, born in Jamestown, NY, on February 15, 1954 to Hazel Chapman and Herman Whitcomb passed away quietly November 26th, 2021 after a long illness. Paul was a long-time resident of Northern Oswego County.
Paul enjoyed hunting in his earlier days and was an avid fisherman. Paul had a passion for nature and enjoyed the outdoors and the country air. He also loved maintaining his birdfeeders and watching his birds. He was a collector of classic cars, match box cars and NASCAR memorabilia, and he enjoyed talking about and sharing his collection with others. Paul was a jewelry maker and shared his bracelets with friends. Paul was a puzzler extraordinaire as well.
Paul had a sense of humor that would sneak up on you as he joked and talked with you. He was sly, sneaky, and persistent. Paul was a ladies man with charm and mystery. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious and mischievous smile, and his compassionate spirit.
Paul lived his life with purpose and to the beat of his own drum. He embraced what gave him passion and celebrated the best parts of his life. Paul lived his last years with support from Oswego County Opportunities staff. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him and the friends that he lived with.
Paul was a proud man who made choices for the direction of his illness and he had a peaceful and comforting exit. Paul is someone we can all be grateful to have known, he was admired by those who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Paul’s classic cars and collectable will be donated to Toys for Tots and other belongings will be donated to Unity Acres. A spring celebration of life will be planned for Paul.
